Initially the institution was affiliated to the Bombay University until the birth of the Goa University, to which it is affiliated today. What started off in a rental premises in a humble way in Borda-Margao has today grown into an independent multi-storeyed building which is well-equipped in terms of infrastructure, library facilities etc. and a well-qualified and competent faculty. This makes the institution the only Centre for Legal Studies in South Goa, which is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Secs. 2(f) and 12(b) and the Bar Council of India for imparting professional education in law and is today accredited by NAAC with a B Grade (CGPA 2.63 on a 4.0 point scale).
